So i know my truck is a little weaker than most

OK let me break it down i have a 2005 ford ranger edge edition with a four door cab. It is also 2wd drive. My question would putting a small snow plow on it blow my tranmission i figure if i put snow tire with agressive enough tred and make sure i have enough wait in the bed it should eliminate wheel spinnage. I am aware of the warranty void i am just curious if it would be possible?

It's bad enough putting a plow on a full size. Pounding after pounding it's beats on the frame rails. That abuse on a little Ranger (even a 4x4 4.0L) will not do it any favors. Just being a 2wd is a negative. If you're looking for a plow truck, get a full size 4wd......and it can even be an old junker.

And Ford warranty's and plows don't mix......ESPECIALLY in a Ranger.

Yeah I wouldn't try it, makes it way to easy to screw up the frame.

I don't think that your trucking being 2wd and trying to plow wouldn't work at all. I mean pushing around a bunch of heavy snow would just make your spin the tires. I have 31" BFG A/T's which are great snow tires and with weight in the back i can still get th tires to spin pretty easy. if you had 4x4 then I think you'd be fine.

Your truck has 1/8" frame metal (well, 3mm actually) and rather smaller front frame horns than pre-1998 trucks. There's a lot of reason not to try to plow with our Rangers and structural integrity issues are the biggest reason.

The auto tranny needs some help if you were going to do that also. Our trannys can use full synthetic fluid, shift improver kits, and perhaps a bigger cooler to help.

my dad used to plow our driveway with an old toyota tacoma 4 bangger, and i think it was 2wd....it worked fine with alot of weight in the back, but the frame was a little rotted out and with couldn't take it....so if that could do it..im sure your truck could do it, but like evryone above is saying...i wouldn't do it
