But your oil pressure guage is actually a fake.
There is an oil pressure switch that goes to the gueage, provided you have 8psig, it goes half way between L and H...

After mine is completely warm it idles around 12 psi - That scared me at first, as I thought it was way too low. However, after a year or so of staring at it... well, nothings happened yet! As long as you get around 40psi above 2k you should be fine.

12psi is REALLY low. WHat oil are you using?

I'm just saying, I've never seen mine go but a hair below 25psi and I run 5w20/5w30 castrol (I was using mobil 1 5w20 but i decided to switch to castrol high milage with pos. results)

Man mine is low!!! 10-12 psi ever since I installed the gauges. I have used mobil 1 10W30 and about a quart of Lucas oil stabalizer. Should I switch to another weight?

I don't know honesltly.

I now use castrol 5w30 high milage, but I was using mobil 1 5w-20 and my pressure was always 20 at idle (20 on the very low side, my gauge only has a 25 for the lowest, it's a hair below that.)

Maybe it's an 04 thing? Me and griggs both run about 20

Once I get my gauge installed I'll let you know Roach. I'm running 5w-30 though.

Yah the oil gauge in the dash only works if there's no oil in the pan and oil in the pan. Just reads if there's oil or not. It's dumb, but Fords way of cheapin out. They like to give you that feeling of security knowing you can monitor your motor, until something bad happens and the gauge still reads the same lol
