2004 Ranger Edge Fuel Pump Reset Switch Issues
Well... I hate to say it, but I have some stalling problems going on. About a week ago, I went to park and missjudged how close I was to a parking block. I bounced off of it pretty hard, but no damage at all. Anyway... I started the car a few minutes after and it fired up just fine, but after a moment it stalled completely. I was able to fire it back up again and get it on the freeway with no problems. About 45 minutes later going full speed on the freeway... the car completely stalled again. I tried to restart it and could not get it to fire. Finally after a few minutes of blowing off some steam screaming some fun profanities on the side of the Ohio Turnpike. It hit me that my problem didn't start till I bounced off that parking block. I found the reset switch under the dash on the passenger side. As soon as I hit it... the car fired up with no problem. About an hour later... I stoped at another location and when I went to start the truck back up again... it wouldn't start unless I hit the switch again. Now I have been driving it for a straight week now, and sure enough... it stalled on the freeway again tonight. More than once this time... and every time I had to hit the switch again. The truck stalled a total of 5 times in a matter of 45 miles. Not good!!!
I am no mechanic by any means, but I was told a fuel pump relay could be causing this. If anyone can help me out it would be really appreciated... but does anyone know the location of the fuel pump relay on a 2004 Ranger Edge 3.0 would be. And would any one of you know if this could be the problem and what a non-mechanic (vehicle dummy) can do to check this out. If any other suggestions come to mind... please tell me. I missed out on what would have been a great New years because my truck had issues tonight. So if any of you can give me some pointers... diagrams on the fuel pump relay.... or whatever.... would help out alot.
Thanks
