On bell housing bolts on most transmissions I like to use a very long 3/8 extension or bunch of extensions with a 3/8 inch shallow impact swivel socket. to get extra leverage I use a 1/2 breaker bar or very long ratchet with a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer.

Many times to get clearance for all of this you may have to pull the fan clutch and fan, support the transmission with a jack remove the cross member and lower the transmission some.

Keep in mind the transmission should be at the point where everything else has been removed and the bell housing bolts are the last bolts and or parts you remove.

The above tips are what I do with most transmission and may not apply to your Ranger specifically.

BTW if you do this like this make sure to have a easy to get to bolt or two in the bell housing still until you secure the transmission with a transmission jack and straps if necessary.
