I have recently been hearing a chirping noise coming from the engine bay near the passenger side, i searched it and it seems the cam is going. What all needs to be replaced? i looked on rock auto and see several pieces to the cam but am not sure what needs to be replaced. I'm pretty sure the camshaft synchronizer would be all i need, plus the tool to remove it but your input would be nice.

 

The chirp you hear is a classic sign of the cam synchro going bad.
You don't need a new cam, just the 'camshaft synchronizer assembly'.
It"s not hard to replace if you are careful and follow the instructions, but I'd
recommend you get the synchro from Ford (Motorcraft) rather than the
aftermarket Dorman units.

The tool you mentioned is not used to remove the synchro, but to align it
once it's installed.
