3.0 Delay start help meee
Hey guys I have a Question I have been having a problem with my 2005 manual 2wd 3.0l ranger. It turns over no problem so the battery is fine plus i had the battery checked. But it takes awhile to start, it has to cranks over a lot before it starts it has never done this before? its almost like getting NO gas or something IDK? Any ideas to help me diagnose the problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks : )

mine's been doing this for a few months now too. try turning the key from off to acc (or ignition whatever you wanna call it) at least 2 or 3 times and then start the truck. it gets the fuel pump going a few times... let me know if that works

Chiltons says check the fuel pressure coming from the fuel pump. Then check the spark plugs

Sounds like its time for a tune up. |
ive had the same problem in my 03 3.0 2wd. manual. i changed my plugs but no difference, i think its got to be something with the fuel filter, just havent had time to change it......let me know if you find anything out with yours

Yea i tried jamesxedge trick by letting the fuel pump pump a little longer and that worked better. I also bought a new fuel filter hoping that will fix the problem. But I still need to install it. Do any of you know what's a good way to prevent gas from coming out of the fuel lines when i attempt to change the filter? haha : )

Piece of chewing gum? I can't think of the name of them, but the pliers you can tighten and loosen with the threaded screw thingy. Make a decent clamp

vice grips?

for some reason pressure isnt staying at the fuel rail????? Maybe the regulator is at fault ??? The fuel filter will not fix this but its a easy replace anyway.

Mine started doing this after I changed the fuel filter. Before I could turn the key and it would start right up. Now sence I am use to just turning the key and letting go I usally have to turn it again or it will struggle for a few seconds with the key in the On position and then run fine.
