Junkyard Injector Swap - What fits what? Misfire issues. :(

Which other ford vehicles come with injectors I can use in my 2002 Ranger 3.0L?

The ones I have currently in the Ranger have a blue band on them, but in the wreckers I found a 2001 Taurus with a red band on them

The questions is.. which other fords have injectors I can grab to try to solve my misfire in cyl 6

If the injector is not the problem then I will have to go deeper.. so far I have changed the plugs, and tried a different plug wire. It seems to be sparking properly though. I tired pulling off the plug wire while running at idle and it didnt make a difference in the way it ran.

Go to the parts store and just get a new set. You will be better off.

Ya. See I don't want to do that cause this ranger is gonna cost me a fortune. If I ran to the dealer for every part.

This thing shifts poorly (can't get it in gear), misfire cyl 6, alternator was pulsing lights off idle, back bumper dented, drivers door light switch is flakey, heater/ac fan works only on high. Hmmm what next. My suzuki Sidekick that I bought in 2008 for $400 has has fewer issues.

I can do the work myself and we have a great wrecking yard closeby so I simply cannot justify guessing an injector issue and wasting $$$ like that.

So far I have picked up a newish bumper 1 month old, used alternator. Changed plugs and air filter picked up a fan resistor and such.

I see my PCV is leaking (I hear vacuum leak) and that is right by cyl 6 so maybe at idle (when it misfires) it is leaning out badly and missing. Hmmmm. What an ugly looking pcv setup. Why does it need to be heated???

Try switching your injectors around 6 injector in #3cyl ect see if that makes a difference no need to throw parts at random at the problem testing is free. And have you changed your trans fluid (auto or 5 speed btw?)

I was thinking the same thing 87xlt.... if is swap if and the new cylinder acts up then we have found a winner :) I also must fix the crazy vacuum leaking pvc setup.. it is right by cylinder 6.... and if it is leaking air it is probably leaning out the cylinder.

as for changing the tranny fluid.. nope not yet. i have owned this truck for about 300 kms so far - I picked it up on Sunday August 8 2010 at about 8pm.

As for the clutch.. I am going to bleed the clutch first gravity bleed it then i am gonna enlist a friends help. I really want to try to a bleed to see if there are any trapped air bubbles in the system. And I will drain the tranny fluid and put in some merc 5.

If your pcv system is leaking it would affect all the cylinders not just number 6 you can check for leaks be spraying some carb cleaner around the pcv area and if the engine revs up you found your leak. Bleeding the clutch is easy break the bleeder screw loose find a plastic tube that will fit over the nipple on the bleeder screw and put the other end in a bottle of break fluid pump the peddle a few times and let sit for about 20 mins. Make sure your resavor does not go dry during the process. Also have you checked your tranny fluid level low fluid will cause hard shifts but a bad slave/master is more common if were talking about 1st and reverse.
