Might be an old thread, but I'm hoping someone will know:
Wondering if anyone knows for certain if the Duratec 30 will bolt up to the M5R1 tranny? My D23NS is making me angry and I'm doing some homework on going to a newer V6.
Not concerned with the engine controls right now, just want to know if it'll bolt up.
This page does not list the D23NS, but I can only assume it goes with the 25/30/35 under Duratec pattern.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...using_patterns
However, this page says its a different family.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratec_engine
Not a whole lot of swapping info out there that I've found yet (or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place).

No, the 2.3l DOHC used in Rangers is a Mazda L engine
3.0l DOHC was made in Ford's Cleveland plant, and yes they are unrelated engines outside of Ford adding "Duratec" name to both, so trans bolt patterns are different.
If you want a V6 it should be 4.0l SOHC engine with M5OD-R1HD
