3.0 miss 3rd time to dealer

well i just took my truck back to the dealer for the thrid time. 2004 ranger 13k miles 3.0 auto 2wd 4 door non ffv. so the first time i took it in they drove it said they couldnt find anything. 2nd time was driving back from swapping seats and engine light started flashing. went away then came back. then went to full solid code (yes i said finally). forget the codes theyre in the truck. they replaced the coil. well this time the miss came back only on first start up but goes away. then today its flashing again and missing badly.

so what could it be? sorry for the story wanted an explanation of what was going on thanks david

Had to read your post three times before I figured out what you were trying to say.

Flashing CEL means you've got a mis-fire somewhere. Take it back to the dealer, assuming it's under warranty.

yea that was really hard to read

if its under warranty go to the dealer

if not check all plugs, wires and your coil, make sure everything is plugged in all the way

sounds like a wire is lose on a plug maybe, idno

sorry about that yea its flashing. yea its under warranty. wish they'd fix it already. its not under really any hard load (its flat around here and i rarely have stuff in the back.

plugs have about 2k miles on them, coil is new from ford. the only thing left is wires and fuel filter. would one of the smaller cats (pass side) starting to get clogged do this?

well the dealer says it was a bad plug i doubt it only 2k on plugs but possibly...... but i think theres other problems. im gonna try to get the dealer to do a compression and leakdown test.

anytime a plug gets fouled with only 2k on it you have to ask yourself why... but it is possible its just a defective plug

should is the word. was missing so i replaced plugs and they ran great for the 2k miles. and turns out it was the coil going out that started the miss. and just bad luck on the plugs. champion was great and refunded the money for them. and about plat plugs. why i didnt use them was because ive used copper pluses in allot of cars and had always been a great plug for me. but now ive got new stockers in there and will probly use stock for just this truck.

^^^ Champion? Use should use only Motorcraft plugs from now on, that might be the problem...

I actually prefer copper plugs myself as well, they burn better, but they do wear out ALLOT faster...
