Need help on 93 3.0L
Well i dropped in a new motor a bought for little bit of nothing...Replaced a good bit of parts on it and now i'm running into some other problems. Currently I am experiencing my check engine light coming on...but when i turn the truck off...and then start it back up..I turns off. It appears the more i drive it the longer it takes before it comes on. The motor has been sitting about a year or 2 at the most. I'm not sure if this is normal or if there is something triggering it..maybe someone can help me out on that problem. The next problem i'm having is while driving down the road...i noticed that my oil gauge is starting to flicker back and forth from normal to Low...and then it will just end up dropping to no oil pressure and then the lifters start to rattle...i'm not sure if i should try a engine flush or just go ahead and replace oil pump. Any help on this truck it be greatly appreciated. Thanks In advance.
BTW...The truck is a 1993 with the 3.0L

Engines do not like to just sit for a year or 2.The rings may be set up a little and letting oil blow by and contaminating the o2 sensors.
Any blue smoke at all when you first start it ?
Heavy deposits inside the tailpipe ?
Been awhile since I've messed with OBD I. Don't remember if you can use the key on/key off method or need to use a jumper wire.
Gotta be info on the web somewhere.

hello OTR....No blue smoke when starting the truck..no heavy deposits in tailpipe. I went and bought the actron scanner tool for OBD I systems...But last night i think i may have narrowed my problem down some..i'v noticed thatwhen i was driving at 55mph...and the CEL would come on i could slow down to 45 mph and travel maybe 3 tenths or 4 tenths of a mile and light would go back off....and i could keep truck there and maybe 2 or 3 miles down the road the light would come back on so i speed up to 55 again and 3 tenths or 4 tenths it could go back out.....so i believe it may be some sort of speed sensor...whats your input?? Thanks again for the help

So far you are getting 'soft faults'.You may need to drive it more as some functions have to have a certain number of soft faults before the comp will set a 'hard fault' which wll set a code you can read.It may have to happen 2 times or twenty.Refrain from using the reader until the CEL comes on and stays on.It may be erasing the soft fault count and not letting the system get to a number it needs to set a code.

the truck in the picture on my profile is my 1996..its been a pretty good truck..i'v had it for acouple years now and last year i bought a 06 Focus so i gave the truck to my mother for her to have something easy on gas to drive back and forth to work in....thats why i had to buy me another ranger...came across a guy that had this 93 ranger with messed up engine..bought it from him for $200.
As for the CEL..i suspose it is the soft faults because when i turn the truck off..the CEL turns off..it doesn't stay on like suspose to..(resets itself when truck is turned off)
How much would you sell the shocks for?? What brand are they??
