3.0 Upper intake manifold removal

According to Haynes I need to drain the coolant system and relieve the fuel pressure to remove the intake manifold. Since mine is composite, and I only want to remove the upper, is this required or can I just unbolt the thing? The Haynes does not make sense to me.

In case anyone was curious I removed my intake manifold to stick an Escape (Well, Tribute technically) throttle body on it. It is insane how loud the intake is. Throttle response seems to be improved. Oh, I used the ranger tps, but do not know if that makes a difference.

The escape one is 60mm, and I think our 3.0 is 52mm. Don't quote me on 52 though.
