rocker arms ?

Hey everyone i had some problems with my truck and have been doing some major top end repairs. It is a 2000 ford ranger 3.0L auto/ 4wd. I replaced the cylinder heads but as im putting it all back together im having some issues and would like a little input of what to do. The rocker arms say to tighten down to about 60 pounds but around 45-50 pounds i snapped a bolt off. Luckly it came right out. Then next is the lifter valley guide plate has two bolts and one snaped when tighting it up. I think its good but i wanted to know is should i remove the snapped bolt in the lifter valley or would that be ok and what can i do about tighting the rocker arms

for safety reasons and for the life of the motor I would suggest replacing the snapped bolt in the lifter valley, just because it could get worse and get tossed around in the engine. As for the rocker arms... its 20 ftlbs max lol

just recheck the torque settings to make sure you got the right ftlbs no need to over do things here

well if you cant get the bolt out by using a wrench or a socket then yes you will have to drill it out

i hear you man. i made the same mistake. haynes sucks; it is actually 60 inch-lbs NOT ft-lbs.

for tightening rocker arms: first pass is 5ft-lbs and second pass is 18-20 ft-lbs.

cool i got that squared away pretty easy but my next question is what is the required tourqe specs for the lower and upper manifold bolts, valve cover, and best place to get a good set of fuel injectors that wont break the banks?

Check to make sure the intake gaskets are all in place.

Take the long bolt[2nd from the front]and put it in it's proper hole.
Now carefully lower the intake into position making sure that it is lining up properly.
Start the bolt that is in the intake. While holding the intake up with one hand start the 3rd one back. Now just tighten them down[FINGER TIGHT] just enough so that the intake will set there without tipping.
Now you can get the front and rear bolts started.
Once you have them all snug start to tighten them down in a pattern working out from the center.

Remember it's only a composite intake. You only need to torque to about 19lbs.
I did it without the torque wrench.I just ran my pattern a few times to make sure everything was tight. The only thing I used the torque wrench for was the rockers.

what do you mean wont break the banks?

well as for the fuel injectors ive seen a couple oem ones that run about 65 each when you do the math your looking at 300 or so. I drive my truck but its no performance rig i just want something to keep it running good. Mine look nasty and i would say last time they were replaced were back in 2000 when it came out of the factory lol

the factory fuel delivery system is more than these engines need, just pick up some replacements, only time you will need bigger injectors is if you are using Boost or Nitrous, other than that you should be alright
