Generally speaking, it is not a good idea to swap MAFs between engines. The PCM is calibrated to the MAF by a transfer function and each type of MAF needs a different one. You might get lucky and have it work well enough or you might have serious air/fuel mixture problems.

It should be possible for an aftermarket calibration company like Bamachips to recalibrate the transfer function for a MAF swap but I don't think the size increase would buy you much at all on a stock engine running a stock throttle body.

Strangely enough, a plastic, 2002 4.0 MAF went into my daughters 1998, 2.5 liter truck with no calibration problems. I can't explain it, but it works. It even fits all the tubing.

But, 3.0 and 4.0 are so different, it doesn't work. 3.0 guys have tried it. I have no idea what the 2.3's are like.

Cool, I don't think I could mod mine w/o screwing it up, so I guess I won't worry about it. haha.

Thanks
