intermittent loss of engine power

Hi there.
I have a 94 3.0/6 cyl Ranger with standard trans. I've had this problem for a while but decided I better get it fixed.
While driving long distances at highway speeds my engine suddenly loses engine power. I'll be going around 70-75 MPH and then it just starts dying out to around 35-45 mph. I try to pump the gas pedal and sometimes it jumps back up and sometimes it takes a bit (30 seconds to a minute). It does this about every 10 minutes or so, but I sometimes get lucky and it won't do it for an hour or two. It usually starts doing this after I've been driving for over half an hour at highway speeds. It never dies completely, just loses substantial power.
I changed the fuel filter even tho that was not my innitial hunch due to its intermittency.
Wouldn't think it's the fuel pump as I've heard they just die when bad.
Could it be the throttle body? Is there a way I can check this?
Anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
Thanks in advance.
