Ranger won't crank.

I have these codes, all may not be the problem or could be one thing causing them all, b1302, b1398, b1352, b1318, b1462, b1322. My truck won't crank at times, I may go weeks/months without a problem or it could be everyday, this has been a problem for while. Has a new battery which was killed by the constant problem, also has a fairly new starter, problem existed prior to replacing starter. It seems as something is draining the battery, usually overnight and more when it is cooler weather. The door ajar light comes on sometimes when doors are shut and the instrument cluster periodically goes out in sections.

First check all major grounds to determine if they are broken/rotted away. drains happen where grounds break

How new is the alternator? My old civic acted up: radio went out spurratically, lights flickered, ran great some days, didn't start others. Replaced alternator and it never happened again

Check the plug on the alternator that boot has been known to melt from time to time may not be charging all the way. See if you can get a description of what the codes are to help narrow it down.

Looked up the first 3, 1302 is accessory circuit failure or short, 1398 is window circuit failure, 1352 said ignition. Now these are according to google, but the common trend is electric. If I was you I'd go with what these guys say and look for a bad ground wire or the alternator plug. You should also test the voltage coming from the battery while the truck is running (if you are able to get it to run).

Check an Alternator - wikiHow

This is a decent basic generic idea of how to test an alternator. If you don't have a volt meter, now is a good time to get a new useful tool.

Another thing to check is brand of alternator i had a chepy one first and it wouldn't regulate voltage well at all got flickering in the lights and all kinds of weird things maybe a bad regulator in the alternator itself its kinda rare but still a possibility.

if you can't get it started, jump it off, and let the jump vehicle run for a while to charge the battery. after your volt meter on the dash reads where it normally does, disconnect the jump vehicle and check that battery voltage. you might have a dead cell battery, which cannot be fix'd. good luck.
