93 3.0 life expectancy ICM and Coil

As the title says, I have 215K on my 3.0 and hope to get another 100K on it. Runs fine (at least I can't detect anything off) except for the dang temp gauge fluctuation which I am still working on. No codes, but mileage is sort of dropping to 17mpg. Just adjusted timing (thanks RonD) and always looking for some little item I can address. Double Platinum plugs on the to do list. Did the o2 sensors not too long ago.

Do folks just change out the coil when they have issues or on a preventative schedule? Same with the ICM.

Yes, don't replace them until there is a problem

"New" parts these days are sketchy , there is no more Quality Control, just Warranties, so when you get a new part you will be the FIRST to test it
More than a few hours have been wasted on assuming a "new part" is good out of the box

You can spend the extra money and get Ford/Motorcraft parts, they are still tested before shipping, and that's why they cost so much more
