96 3.0 4x4 Ranger

hey guys quick question i think i already know the answer to just want to confirm. I have a 96/97 Ranger 3.0 4x4 manual trans, the forks are bent in the trans. I have another 96 ranger 3.0 4x2 manual trans. My questions is instead of buying/fixing the current trans in the 4x4 can i swap it with the 4x2 trans and just bolt the transfer case onto the back and stick it back into the 4x4 Ranger. If i remember correctly the output shafts are different between the two? Which would result in a complete disassembly of both trans. Please correct me if I'm wrong about anything!

Correct, the output shafts are different, and require complete disassembly to switch.

Might be easier to swap the forks.
