Just about got the engine out of the sable today. Couple of bolts left on the bell housing. One of them is so friggin' unreachable at any angle :S. There is barely any room in this sable to work lol. Should have taken my camera so I could take pics.

[Sable]

Could not find a cherry picker anywhere. So I loaded the electric pallet jack into the dodge and took it up the garage. Basically a mini forklift that you push around. Lifted the front end and got the jacks under :D. Oh, I started up the engine before we started taking it out, and it runs beautifully. The car is really nice it's just too bad they can't get a title for it. My guy is busy tommorow so nothing until monday.

[/Sable]

Next post will be on a project page with pics...

oh forgot to ask.. went to napa today.. tried to get all the gaskets I need. They told me 180 something for a full gasket kit.. for everything. I didn't think I'd be spending $200 on just gaskets, but my buddy says while the engine is out might as well replace all of the gaskets.

(after looking at the gasket prices at advanced auto that full gasket kit to do the entire engine seems reasonable. he said it included head gaskets, oil pan, intake, exhaust, main seal, er.... and some ones i forgot maybe?)

oh... does anyone know if there is a difference with normal 3.0 v6 and the one in this sable? buddy said its the sable SHO(or did he say sable sho transmission?) i think.

basically we've been waiting for this guy to tow my truck up to my buddies garage. my friend finally just went down there and put cash in his hand, so we get to start tomorrow actually. the engine has been out and we cleaned up the garage to get ready for the truck. one problem we are having is that the sable was pretty low and we just barely got the engine out. we need to figure out a way to get it into the much higher truck.

he has some wood laying around so we'll have to build something

link to the oil pan gasket set i bought for $21
1990-2001 Ford 3.0 Lower Engine Gasket Kit Oil Pan etc.: eBay Motors (item 200459097813 end time Oct-04-10 17:16:10 PDT)

link to the head gasket set i got for $76 WITH head bolts.
91-95 Ford & Mazda 3.0 Head Gasket +Bolt Kit: eBay Motors (item 120612050869 end time Sep-03-10 1708 PDT)

I think i saved something like $140.... they should be getting here thursday or friday i think. (damn labor day). Napa wanted $150 for just the head gasket set.. without head bolts.

just got the gasket kit today... seems to be everything i need. however, i was looking at the head bolts and they say they are:

Dana

Ford engine
Dana kit #216-7021
3.0 Liter 183 CID 1986-92
EX. SHO Engine

uhm.... will these head bolts be okay on my 1994?

the EX is just the example of a 3.0, hence their choice for the SHO as an example.
I don't see why those wouldn't work. unless they changed threads, length, or something else.
try them out. if they don't want to go in, DONT FORCE them.

Well guys.. it's been a long freakin' time. FINALLY.... FINALLY IT'S THERE. After a lot of complaining and moaning we got the guy to tow the freaking thing up. Bad news... the guy who is suppose to put the engine in just had back surgery 2 days ago. Good news... his father (the mechanic) is going to do the work while he's laid up in bed.

Crossing fingers.... wish me luck... pictures to come soon.
