98 3.0 MPG Log (shows how mods affected MPG)
I've been recording MPG for a few months now to see how recent modifications affected gas mileage. With all of the threads started about how to improve gas mileage I thought this might be of some interest.

Also, I will keep updating this after the roller rockers are installed if anyone is interested.

you run 102 octane gas why....
|
the gasoline confuses me, is e10 ethanol? if not why did you not stick with the same octane gas until the new tuned setting? orrrr am I just reading it wrong ( the climb from 89-102 octane confuses me)
102 octane gas wouldn't be any more useful in our trucks than 89 if the truck wasn't tuned for it. you would just be wasting money at the pump. Also what's the reasoning behind odometer and actual miles being roughly 30miles off? |

My apologies. I used the double click feature to create those cells and it incremented the numbers instead of copying them. The spreadsheet is now correct.

Also, I should note that I used 89 E10 gasoline with the 87 mileage tune as Fred informed me that the 87 mileage tune would work with either 87 Octane or 89 E10 fuel.

Yeesh, I only run 87 octane on my 3.0 and I average at least 18-19 City/Highway combined. A reason why I don't lift my truck and run 30" tires.
Some of my best highway MPG ever was around 26 MPG. I have underdrive pulleys to be delivered tomorrow and just installed new spark plugs, wires, and the demon coil pack. I'll be tempted to see what that does for my fuel economy. Granted, I think one of both of my O2 sensors are dying, so I haven't been able to obtain solid data henceforth. |
Interesting your MPG dropped after the pulleys. I would think that the opposite would happen and a +2mpg change with the efan.
I have gotten a worst of 21 and a best of 25mpg. I see a few around that get that. Guess I'm lucky. I just looked again...you have a 4X4 or a $X$. |

I think mine is a OHV. I thought all 3.0L are.
|
I'm interested to see if my mileage goes up with the 92 Performance tune. Didn't really notice a difference with the 87 Perf tune. Might make it more worthwhile to keep using 92 if the mileage increases like yours did.

so if got a tuner and had stock tires would my mpg increase at all?
|
u will get better gas milage in the summer cuz in the winter they change there gas to soemthing other **** and it runs like **** this is in new england

^^^^ Thats pretty good... 25 hwy, finally someone getting mileage like me...lol. (with a 6 cyl)
|
hmmm interesting
|
Running the 92 tune all the time won't hurt anything, will it? Just wondering since our trucks were designed to run on 87.
|
Would it be possible to include the average daily temperature on the spreadsheet ? I have a feeling the air temp has more of an effect on mileage than we may realize.
