98 Ranger XLT 4x4 3.0 High idle when wheel's turn
 

My truck has begun a new issue, as soon as you put it in gear and the wheels begin to turn the engine RPM jumps to over 2000 RPM and stays that way until the wheels stop? Makes parking lots and red lights a bit of an issue It does this cold or hot. I have a check engine light on for emissions issues but it never did this before? Any ideas would be welcome.
