The motor blew on my 98 Ranger 3.0, so I bought an identical 2000 parts truck and have swapped the motor in. It’s almost all back together, but I just noticed the oil pressure switches are different. It looks like the yellow plastic cap on the original switch (in the 98 engine) is loose (or is it supposed to spin off?), so I should replace it. - however, all of the replacement switches that I’ve been able to find look similar but they are much longer, although I did find a video of a guy using that longer replacement switch in place of the original shorter one.
My question is, will the older style (98) switch work in the 2000 engine? The 2000 has a normal looking single pin plug, while the 98 has a stud on the switch with a small 90 degree connector that just pushes onto it.
I do still have the engine harness off of the 2000 still sitting in the garage, could I just swap the connectors and continue to use the switch from the 2000 motor?
