ticking from bottom end of motor

Hey all u have a ford ranger edge 3.0 I just had to replace the timing chain cover gasket while I was at it put a new timing chain and harmonic balancer on it. Put it all back together and im getting a ticking sound from bottom end of motor. I thinks its the timing chain hitting the cover but I just wanted to ask and get some suggestions before I ripped it all back apart. Any advice will be greatly appreciated thank you

It could be, have you listened to it with a mechanics stethoscope to try and isolate it? If you have a flex fuel model it could be time for a PCM. They had ignition timing problems with the original flex PCMs most noticeable when your burning 87 oct and going up a hill you`ll hear the valves rattle...

Grab a long screw driver and place it to your ear over different parts of the engine, as good as a mechanics stethoscope and cheaper!
