Two Questions
I just bought my 4th Ranger, a 99 reg cab 3.0L 5 speed. Its got 133k miles on it, and I want to replace the cam sync so it doesn't wipe my motor out. I've read to stay away from Dorman, but is the Cardone one any good or should I just stick to Motorcraft?
My other question is about the motor mounts. My drivers side one is in bad shape. I can feel the shifter move with throttle input and it just feels a little clunky. How hard are they to change? Any how to's out there? I'm gonna change them both but the drivers side seemed much worse.
Thanks,
Joey

i talked to ford the other day about the cam syncro to see if i should replace it, and they never heard of replacing them, they dont really go bad. if yours isnt bad, best to just leave it alone. but with things like that, just stick with motorcraft to be safe. 90bucks on rockauto.com
I'm so freakin ****. I put it in 6 times. LOL I did a test start and it fired up right away. I'm pulling the harmonic balance to check for an oil leak on the timing cover.
Still on the trail.
Touchdowns everyone,

For the heck of it I am going to post the links to the two how-to's floating around online. I changed mine using the method that does not involve the tool. Took about 20 min total. Go slow, take your time, and make sure everything is aligned perfect. It is not as bad as you think. PLEASE make sure you firmly tighten the bolt that holds the sync down. Check, check, then check again. Mine backed out about 1/2". All I did was throw a code but it could have been a lot worse.

One thing though, Motorcraft all the way. Accept no substitutes. It may cost you an engine.
