Yet another exhaust seeker. opinions

well I finally got the ok from the old man to get exhaust, now I just have to make a decision on what I want, and seeing if anyone else with the 3.0s had any do or donts on exhaust. I dont want it to be too incredibly loud, say where its unbolted after the cats, but dont want it so quiet as to where you cant really hear it unless you get on it. Im looking for the sound of more of a v8 or as close as possible and not like the ricers riding around. and if it all possible something without the pops on the way backdown, is there anything out there that would match up to that. My friend has got flowmaster 70 series on his 3.0 and its sounds really nice, but would like to get mine just a little deeper then his. anything ya'll would recommend?

I had a flowmaster 40 series and enjoyed it very much. It had a deep tone to it too. It was a single in dual out exited in the rear of the truck with dual tips.

But I am telling you I just cut it off and WOW!

I cut it right after the cat and put an elbow on it with a dual tip and it sounds awesome. It is loud and it pops just about any time you want it too. It looks good coming out in front of the tire right behind the door.

If it were me again I would not waste my money on mufflers or glasspacks.

the only problem im seeing with straights or taking it out and just running off the cats, is the back pressure. ive had my exhaust off right after the cats, and its loud as ****, to loud for my liking, especially with the interstate travels back and forth to school. does anyone have a clip of the 40 series? whatever exhaust its going to be, its more then likly either going to be put out at 45s at the rear or dumped, maybe in front of the rear tire. has anyone else gutted one of the cats on the 98s? Theres 2 under there, and I really see where a lot of power would be stolen right there.
