MAC VS. K&N

I have tried both on my 2.3L along with a few others. I had a MAC, then switched to a volant with no noticable difference in performance. I recently switched to a k/n fipk and noticed quite a difference over anything I have tried. Also, I tried several different brands of filters/oil that are available. Out of everything that I have tried, I have had the best luck with either a k/n or AFE filter and the Fram AirHog oil. For some reason the Fram AirHog oil stays on the filter MUCH better the the other oils. With any other oil that I have tried(k/n, AFE, green filters, summit, and I couple other that I cannot recall) I noticed dry spots on my filter after only a few hundred miles. Quite a bit of the oil would end up under the filter on the tray that held the stock airbox. To help a bunch with the dusty conditions and make cleaning your filter A-LOT easier and quicker I highly recommend looking into a water repelant outerware from www.outerwearsracing.com They offer a outerware pre-filter for just about every filter size and if they don't, they will make one. Cost on the outerware is approx. $22, but they do work VERY well and are available in many colors. The water repellant version also gives piece of mind in case you happen to get any water near your filter.
