Blown engine =[ Freaking out!

Sooooo My engine in my 2004 ford ranger is no good.
everything was great till me and my buddy went offroad, then we saw water
and we went through it a few times no problems what so ever, i went one more time and it died. thats when i panicked i made sure the pipe was outta the water, and the truck was really hard to start, with a knocking sound... =[
blah blah Got it towed to a local autoshop he said he saw a hole in the pan,
sooooo pretty much i need a new/used V6 3.0L only had 52k, I obviously didnt think anything was going to happen, or else i wouldnt of done it. and it wasnt that deep but apparently deep enough for water to get underneath, the hood and whatnot. Sh*tty mistake. i know.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Engine wise i mean.

And of course my warranty got turned down when i got the vehicle
I shoulda wrecked it somehow I have gap insurance.. hah...

you have a few choice's
1. you buy a new or used engine
2. put a 4.0l swap would give a bit more hp
3. v8 swap
4. push it off a cliff.........

Im trying to find something on ebay. But i really dont know what will work and whatnot.
i know its a 3.0 v6.
A 4.0, would be better. how much more work is it to put that in, then the 3.0
A V8 would be very nice...

I wish i could push it off a cliff. that would be a good one to tell the insurance company...

yeah, its a crappy mistake. i honestly didnt think water was gunna mess it it up that bad. oh and when i got it outta the water oh boy did it SOUND like SH*T!

A 4.0 will be a little work but it is possible. Just get the ECU with it.

When my old man ran into a 12" deep flooded part of our road at 4am, our auto insurance paid for the engine swap in the '98 Contintental. Is your truck fully covered? Might wanna look into that...

Find a junkyard engine....i've seen 4.0's as low as $400 w/ 50k on it.

You know man, I honestly dont know, i havent talked to them, just happened today. I highly doubt it. Water in the engine? =\ i just got the truck like 1month ago. made first payment like the 21st, so yeah i still owe quite a bit. haha. Id love to do a V8 swap 5.0
or something. but its hard enough how im gunna afford a engine. Its quite depressing.

Keep giving ideas! i like it. anything!

If your going to get a 4.0, I would change the timing chain guides while the motor is out. They wear down and cause the chain to rattle.

i went through that same exact problem.i 4 wheeling. got into sum deep mud nd blew my motor. the worst mistake i did was getting another 3.0. trust me just get a 4.0. 3.0's are no good at all. you can do much more with a 4.0.

4.0 would also require a new tranny as well. I'll sell you my 3.0 if you find me a good condition 5.0 lol

well you better pray their is a flood coming somewere around your area lol a great story of a giant wave flooding your truck while you were crossing a little bridge might just work....... well im done with my very odd ideas..

more realistic ideas..
well if you got with a 4.0 wouldnt he need a new tranny also? and do you have a 4x4? i mean you might could get a killer deal on a 4.0 with wiring harness i think its the ecu? well ima call it the computer thing that goes with the engine.. ya youll need all that

My old man's motor seized due to sudden impact with frigid water on a hot block. the #2 rod was snapped in half as well. Insurance paid for it, all we were out was the deposit. I know the insurance company wanted to screw us and total it until we showed them what the car was worth, and showed them similar cars with MORE miles for sale at a higher price than what we paid for the car. So, almost a total...so that MIGHT be your kiss of death: The ranger depreciation vs. labor + parts to fix.

It's worth looking into it. Just i wouldnt claim it unless you know the costs of the engine swap and the value of your vehicle. Insurance MIGHT total it.

I thought the 3.0 also had the 5R55E, basically needing no different tranny between 3.0 and 4.0
