I heard there are different oem cats. Some have a brick, and some have pebbles. One of them is the same design and as effecient as the aftermarket hi-po ones. I'm not sure which one.
There's still an issue with inlet/outlet tube size of the cat. If you have a larger pipe from a new exhaust then the cat tube is most likely smaller.

what year truck you have? most newer rangers do come with higher flowing cats. and an upgrade wouldnt be noticable unless you were boosted.

no trail head is like an edge. it was a sport version, with torsion bars and it was 2wd

Most if not all cats are high flowing on vehicles made over the last few years. Cats aren't like they used to be any more, when they significantly restricted flow.

The leaf just means your vehicle is flex fuel (Allowing you to run E85).

you hafta figure that out yourself. The leaf has nothin to do with amount of cats, it means your vehicle runs on flex fuel.

There are 3 or 4 of them (I don't remember how many mine has).

The first 2 are pre-heaters that heat up the exhaust for the CAT...the big one before the muffler is the actual CAT.
