Smoke in cab?
First off a little history..Got this truck with a knock/tap but with another motor from taurus..I am just trying to get all the life out of the original i can... I gave it a tune up and oil change. Since then I noticed going up hills it'll hit 4k rpms and sometimes i'll get a little cloud of smoke in the cab. I think the cats are clogged could that be the problem? Just wondering if anyone else had this prob?

Yeah we know we have to change it but again that motors not in yet. It's the original (as far as I know) still in it just with a tap/knock.. Apparently the original oil pan gaskets are crap and blow out so whoever had it before me ran it out of oil. My friends a car tech and bought and replaced the gasket added some oil and it still ran so i'm trying to get life out of it.
Now if it is the cats (think so) if i'm right there are 4 of them? What's the best way to do this cheaply in a state that has no emissions?

4 cats?! On the 2008 there is what looks like 2 cats, 1 on each header. but apparently the one is something else not really a catalytic converter. And Then there is just a muffler as far as I know. Probably much more different then yours anyway. But the best opinion I can recommend is to head down to the wreckers and get one
