Can someone Please check there engines for me
I am having this most annoying squeal.. sounds like belt squeal, and is only at idle - 1400 rpms.. the chirping increases in speed and gets quieter till about 1400 and stops making noise..
I have already changed the belt earlier today.. to my dismay - that did not fix the problem.
Now - i believe i have found the culprit.
The "Idler Pulley" (not tensioner) on my ranger wabbles..just a tad bit..i can move it back and forth with 2 fingers.
Is this normal? can someone check there ranger for me and see if there idler pulley does this?
incase you dont know - this is the "idler pulley" ( where the ratchet is)
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...1t:429,r:0,s:0
thank you very much for any help anyone can offer - hopefully someone else searching like me can find this in the future!

Heck i just saw this post, I was going to say the same, it's common with the rangers, they are less than a $100, don't forget to be sure get you the Cardon Make and not the Chinese knockoff brand called Dorman :) now go change that thing before you loose more than a $100 bucks, lol

lol fullsize tundra = sex...and its coming..soon
but back to topic at hand..
i changed it. didnt bother setting timing or anything like that, just made 2 marker marks. just removed old one and slapped a new one in running like a charm.
Dealership wanted 200 dollars for it... Buull.... i went to napa and got one for 39 plus tax...even came with an alignment tool and sensor.
It said made in china..its holding up..as long as it works for another 30k miles im happy.
problem solved

I have toughbook stand at the police department I work at, and the laptops do come in very handy (the officer who's laptop stopped a bullet can attest to that)
They also add a "Tactical" environment to a vehicle that I enjoy looking at.
personally - i think you cant afford a nice tundra at the moment and have invested too much time in your ranger and old Dodge and now your bitter... kinda got that feeling since your first post. But hey - thats just one mans opinion..so it shouldn't bother you at all.
arghh - look at the interior..and this is just base . No other truck has an interior that is as quality

Why ya' gettin so deffensive boss?
This was the quote in my post
"I have a toughbook stand at the police department I work at, and the laptops do come in very handy (the officer who's laptop stopped a bullet can attest to that)"
This was in reply to you implying that laptops have no use, or that i'd look lame with one in my truck (which i believe gives a good truck a nice tactical looking edge)
At no time did i say a Tundra Door stopped a speeding bullet.
Bullets have a tendancy of going through car doors, infact the majority of times a car door is hit by a bullet, the bullet will penetrate and enter the cabin. At that point, there is a possibility that the subject inside will become injured. In this situation, the bullet actually penetrated the door, and became lodged on the lower base of the laptop...guess the "toughbook" really does hold up to its name.
I understand the money situation. I spent 8 years in the AirForce and managed to save up about 80,000 dollars. I had 65,000 before enlisting from a law suit. I purchased a home for about 85k... I spent 15k on a 2008 Mustang GT and next year will spend about 17000 on a tundra..which leaves me 40k to invest in myself.
Anythings possible with proper planning! I hope you can learn from your anger and agitation and direct it towards something positive in your life.

are you aware that the makers of that tundra tried to kill my gramps in world war 2. **** that. yes..id much rather have a big block of plastic that happens to look like a turtle with a "supercharged" wannabe hemi (i-force) engine. the only..and i say THE ONLY other truck you should ever go with is the sierra 2500HD. simple, reliable, rugged and metal - fancy that
