Can't Get Air Filter to Come Out
Can't Get Air Filter to Come Out
I do recall there was a time when one could find info like this on YT & it would be easy, understandable & one would not be subjected to nonstop commercial nonsense for a 3 min answer!!
So I need to change my air filter and I know where it is - the 2 latches on the right side release just fine - but that's it. Is it possible it's stuck? How hard should I try to get it to lift? What's up w the L side? is that supposed to release also or what? I watched one video and he's pulling the engine hose up, mentions the release on the R side but doesn't really show or explain about the L.
Detailed explanation is fine - or if it's really something easy that's cool too. Thanks!

If yours is like mine, you pop the two latches and lift that inside up and then push the whole top toward the center of the truck until the catches near the fender come out of their slots. Then the top can be lifted up. Weird design.
"catches near the fender?" so not sure if you're referring to the same one - I thought the other catches were on the left side just opposite the ones on the right? I've shaken and jiggled the top after releasing the 2 latches on the R but no luck.
It's an absolutely stupid design considering how air filters have traditionally been so easy to replace! Why make it so difficult?!

Do you have two latches under the air tube to the engine? If so, release them and lift the tube up so the lid is above the edge of the filter box. Then shove the top toward the radiator until the edge near the fender can be lifted up. Try removing the intake air tube first. Then the top should come off easily.
