Does this sound right? (vid. clip)
This is what happened when I put my roller rockers in, and after I let it run for 5 min to let it "learn". Anyone had a 3.0 that sounded like this after? I like how it sounds - (I know that's not how it's supposed to sound) - in the back but it's got a BAD shake and it idles low. Could I have tightened a rocker too tight?

I don't think this is how it's supposed to sound when I just changed to roller rockers, but I'd be fine if it kept the sound coming out of the exhaust, just not the roughness in the engine bay.
This is how it sounded with ^that^ same setup minus the rockers, coil pack and wires.

Hm........Maybe I yanked a little too hard on 2 of those wires attatched to the back of the valve cover. D., when you said "2" it flashed a clip of me pulling 2 wires to get that "clip" off of the back bolt. It holds the plug wires and clips on a valve cover bolt in the back and one wire had already come out. I'll have to try changing out those wires in the morning.
Anyway to "feel" or "see" if they are busted?

i have roller rockers and it doesn't sound like that. my engine sounds much smoother than before the rr's. i had a faint ticking noise when i first started it but it quickly went away. are you sure you followed the tightening procedures correctly? i know i had a little bit of trouble figuring out top dead center.

glad you got it figured out.
I hate messing with a daily driver, something is bound to go wrong for a week or so.
The original video is nice. Sounds really good if you had a cam in it but when you find out its stock . . . Reminds me of the old "pull a spark plug and vacuum advance" trick.
My 66 falcon (when it had the 200 inline) sounded a lot like that at idle with 5 cylinders

Eh, to be honest I feel little to no change. Just a tad more torque, I know that because I could never accelerate in 5th gear- it always downshifted -and now it'll slowly creep. But with my jump in the truck and romp on it test-drive, I felt no difference. Even after I let it "learn" to work with the new ratio I still can't feel it now. My rev limiter in P and N is bumped to 3,250 rpm instead of 3,000 and it's quieter in the engine bay, but that's it.
