Missing on cold start

Hey guys, the past few days my ranger has started missing on cold starts. Not that it has been extremely cold, even on one day in was 45 over night it did it. Now, it only does it for about 20 seconds, then goes away, and runs great. I have recently put new plugs and wires in it, and it ran great for a month, but that was still the first thing I checked, and all seems to be good. Any suggestions?

Throttle plate? you mean like inside the throttle body? Would that cause it to miss?

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it sounds like a hydraulic lifter is taking a while to pump up ,not letting a valve open enough right away.
A poor anti-drainback valve in the oil filter or too heavy oil weight would amplify the problem.
Open the hood before the next cold start and listen for a "clatter" sound.
