Coolint leaking from some part...

I have alot of coolint leaking from a part, I have no idea what it is, its if your looking at the motor on the far left, and has to do with the ac, it had a little vacuum on it, i think it MIGHT be the heater core ? i am not sure, but its leaking on to the header, and now its spraying a light mist of coolint out too. It has 2 lines coming in it and another coming out.

Could use help asap so I can find a place to order the part before it burst and I have to be towed :(

If the heater core was leaking, it would be leaking inside the cab on the passenger side onto the floor. That's what i've experienced with heater cores.

If mind serves me right, the a/c doesn't use the heater core. The heater core is basically a minature version of the engines main radiator in front.

Maybe if you could take a pic of the part that is leaking, I can help you out ID the part. Someone else might know right off the bat what part it is.

Is the part a black plastic part with 2 hose coming in from the firewall? -Mike-

Yes there are 2 hoses coming from the firewall and then 1 more from another part...it has a vacuum at th top....

Is it leaking from the coolant shutoff vac valve thats inline with the heater hose or is it leaking out by the firewall from the hose connections to the core? If its just a line or the valve thats a simple fix, but if its actually coming through the firewall from the core its a PITA to replace the core. If its the core, sooner or later you'll see coolant on the passengers floor.

It's leaking from that black plastic peace with the hoses coming from it going to the firewall

The heater coolant valve in Rangers sometimes starts to leak after about 8~10 years. More info and pictures in this thread:

The heater core will not leak into the passenger floor. There is a small pan underneath the heater core that will catch the liquid and it has a hose that goes through the firewall. When mine went bad, I could smell coolant with the ac running through the vents. If the drain for the pan is clogged, then it might leak into the passenger floor, but there is a drain line. If it is leaking through a hose then it might be the core.

Looks easy to do, just d/c the hoses and take it out.

If you read the post in that link, you'll see that the author has had trouble with repeat failures of aftermarket valves from an auto parts store. I would wait until tomorrow and get a genuine Ford part from the dealer. It can't cost that much more.

Of course, you need to let the engine get cold before you work on anything in the cooling system. If you have a way to clamp off the three hoses, it will make the job simple. There are special locking pinch pliers made for clamping off coolant hoses. I have also used a long nose Vise Grip but it is not the best tool for the job.

^ I had played with before, I though it was leaking form the hoses, and when i d/c it didnt leak out, when i replaced the clamps so hopefully I wont get all messy.

Ill be going by ford tommorow after work heh
