CEL Only P0174

Hey all,

Got a CEL and the code that pulled was only P0174(Bank 2 Lean). I'm thinking MAF due to my K&N.

I'm kind of surprised it ony threw this code and not any others.

Any other ideas? I ask because a week ago I got the same code and I Cleared it and cleaned my MAF sensor. It came back in under a week.

DPFE sensor or other wise know as the egr flow sensor, thats what mine was

And that was the only code that was thrown when the DPFE Sensor was bad?

Ok So where the heck is the DPFE Sensor? No clue.

DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS!!!!!

Seriously, the misinformation on this board is out of control.

p0174 is lean on bank 2 which means you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere which is allowing more air into the system. Look at all your hoses for cracks, holes or whatever. if ncessary toss some soapy water on it.

The codes p0171 and p0174 are 99.9% caused by a vacuum problem. Don't throw money at your problem until you research first.

x2, I had the same problem a few months ago and posted on it. It was a vacuum leak, got the new part (hose and elbow) at Ford for about 35 bucks, easy to install. Not super cheap, but an easy fix.

CRAP. Just ereased my previous post. All above are absolutely correct 1000% It is a bank 2 vacum leak and I am a complete IDIOT for mixing the codes. DAMN I suck

Great...easiest way to find a vacuem leak is how then? Dump soapy water on my engine? Leak makes me think it won't blow bubbles, just suck air in.

Which side is bank two? Passenger or Driver?

Bank one is the side of the motor that your #1 cylider is on. Your coil pack should be labeled with this. Follow the #1 wire to the proper side of your motor. Bank two is (obviously) the opposite. My truck is the 4.0 so I couldnt tell you wich is wich but then again I already gave you the wrong diog for this code.

take a spray bottle of soapy solution and spray the engine while it is running around the vacuum lines slowly to see the general location of the leak. Then you can work on pinpointing the exact location of the leak.

check your intake manifold upper and lower. usually thats the problem that i run into alot with rangers

Well I feel dumb...my EGR was our of the valve cover, I think that was why it threw the code.

Bank one is closest to the number one piston.
