First mpg report after going to 32in tires

Well last night I filled up the first tank after I upgraded to my 32's. Most of this tank was city driving and usually 3mile trip at a time and usually running cold. Would barely warm up by the time I got to work. I also took a 40 mile trip on the hwy. Which was the only time I was on it. The rest was all city. Here is what I got.

284 miles
15.16 gallons filled up
18.7 mpg avg
That's with 93 octane tq program installed

When I was running my 246/75/16 I was avg 18.1mpg. So as you can see it went up some with the 32's and I do believe it is because my truck is running in a better rpm range for the city now. I drove it exactly the same for the last few months which is about 5 fill ups.

So for anyone wondering if they should upgrade to bigger tires I WOULD! As long as you have a programmer installed you mpg will be good.

after i went to 32's i averaged at least 2 mpg more than stock
as in the rpms im about 2 to 300 less than the stock 235/75r15's

the 4.10 are nice for out of the hole but suck on the highway unless u got the tire for them

o ya if your wondering i average 24 mpg weekly

You have to remember that Rangers came with about 4 or 5 different tank sizes. His "bluff" may be true, as I can squeeze 350 out of my truck with a 21 gallon tank.

Mike, did you adjust your speedo, too? Just curious...

My speedo is off and it says for my 19.5 gallon tank that I'm getting 300+ for a full tank.

Well before i upgraded my tires i was getting about 16-18 mpg and now that im running on 32's my mpg has dropped to 10mpg on my last four tanks of gas! but yeah i don't do a lot of driving so im cool with it and i have the stock gears and no programmer (i would have one but they don't make one for my year!)

call my bluff all you want. Stone has seen it. It is consistency of shifting that really helps. I shift at 3k from 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 and anytime i am 40+mph i use 5th. my speedo is off 11% so last tank...279.2(trip meter mileage)X1.11(for gears and tires)=309.91(corrected mileage) 309.91/14.9=20.80

my dad gets 17-18 with his OHV4.0 5-Spd and 3.55's

I'm running a programmer so it adjust it when I put my gearing and tire size in.

lord of war. when you regear, if your speedo is read off of your ABS ring, the speedo will not be affected by gear change because it is on the ring gear. so you divide your door sticker tire height by your new tire height and there ya go
