Flex Fuel and Intakes
I have a 2000 Ranger with the Flex Fuel 3.0L V6. I am looking into installing a Mac Intake. So here's my question: will adding an intake onto a flex fuel system running E85 help or hurt my truck? I've heard it won't be a problem from some and others say my engine will get toasted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I dunno about that because I havent ran E85 yet, but I have the FFV 3.0L and a MAC intake and have never heard such a problem..

Alright, thanks for the input. It's nice to know it is even possible to install one. I've called manufacturers and all of them say that they're designed for "stock" (gas) applications and that they're not responsible for any possible damage caused.

Thanks for the input everyone. Now all I have to do is save my pennies to buy an intake... man thats a lot of pennies :( Oh well, at least I'll have all winter to save :)

isnt the mac intake like 150??? thats pretty cheap for a CAI.....
|
Yeah, but full time student + part timr job= just enough $ to fill the gas tank. When I have the cash I am definitely going to get a Mac.
|
Yeah I got mine for $130 shipped on ebay, the MAC intakes are priced pretty low compared to the others.

I built my own from autozone for about $80 including a long cone. Haven't run E85 yet, don't really plan on it either.
