I see you have 32's on your truck, did you re-gear, if not, what gear do you have? I run 2500 rpms at 80, but I have 30" tires with a 3.42 gear ratio. In any event, it doesn't seem high to me...

it all has to do with what gear is in your, mine has the 4.10 rear end and at 70 im doin 2500..which to me is hummin pretty good..but like my dads F150 has the 3.55 rear end that thing is like 1800 at 70 so it all has to do with your rear end.

I've got 4.10's, 5 speed manual, 3.0L, 31's. I turn 3,000 - 3,200 at around 90.

I don't see how thats possible when I have tires that are less than 1" smaller than you with a 3.42 gear ratio running 2500rpm at 80. I don't see any way you could be going 10 mph faster with that much more gear and only 5-700 rpms higher. (I have a manual as well)

I have 4.10's and an automatic and my speedo tops out at 93 which is 3200 RPM.

3.42?? you mean 3.55

for me 65 is like 2200, but that is 4.56s and 4.88s

and for the OP, you are comparing apples to oranges. v6 needs more rpm to create the same amount of torque that the v8 is putting out. i think the amount of rpm for that speed is fine.

Well yes and no.... My stock gear ratio is 3.55 but with my larger tires, it is a 3.42.

Your axle ratio won't change because of different tires. Your final drive ratio will be affected and might change relative to stock tires, but I think that's a rather confusing way to look at it.

5speedin - does your truck feel like its struggling too much with the 31's? ive been thinking about moving up to them, but im driving on hills a lot and i dont want to lose too much, especially in the winter.
