fyi 1990 Ranger 2.9l auto 2wd no start fixed
 

Symptom : Turn key one click then nothing.
Found negative cable a little loose.
Tighten.
Turn key one click then nothing.
Left headlights on as a quick check for battery integrity.
No lights.
Wiggle test positive cable. No change.
Wiggle test negative cable headlights on and off.

Negative cable not available locally. I order the cable and installed it.
NOTE : Negative cable is not grounded at the starter.
It is grounded on the engine block on passenger side just behind the shock.
This is a "feel it" job.
The grounding bolt is a 13 mm and I used a 1/4" ratchet. Its tight in there.

Gave the battery a jump ... she crancked right over.
