Gears

What's the difference between my stock 3.55s and, say, 4.10s? How much faster would the truck be?

U will get quicker take off.. but shorter top end.. Ur truck with sit at a higher rpm on the highway then usuall causing worst gas milage on the highway. But u might see a increase in the city seeing how ur engine strains less on the start....

I noticed a difference in my 4.0L with 4.10s actually. Mainly because 1st gear is so tall it seems to get that power ban quicker... I dont have a programmer so 96 is always my top end no matter the gears.

The actual top speed of a ranger is faster then you would want to safely drive it anyway.

sorry for hijacking the thread but i dont want to start another about gears. we looked at my friend's door jam sticker, he has a 7.5" rear with 3.73's. he has an auto trans and was looking to get gears. would you guys recommend 4.10's or is that too little of a diff to notice? thanks for any suggestions

if he wants to upgrade he needs to look for a 8.8

i do believe 4.10's will only fit in a 8.8 axle setup.. plus the 8.8 is stronger then the 7.5 if he wants to run with a larger tire etc... also if he looks for an 8.8 out of an exploder he can get disc brakes in the rear
