Anywho - 1994 Ford Ranger, 3.0L, 5 speed, 3.73 L/S, balanced driveshaft, flipped rear brackets, nitrogen gas charged gas shocks, sway bars, poly pushings (including the BODY MOUNTS), z speed rated tires, roller rockers, cam, P/P everything and a Whipple at 18lbs boost (once - 12-15 normally). It would rev limit at 80MPH. I pulled the limits so I could actually be accellerating at the end of a 1/4 mile...

There are some very good reasons to pull the limiters, a lifted 4x4 with 35" "S" rated mudders is NOT one of them....

lol. i'm not saying im gonna set the land speed record for stock 3.0L ranger.. but it'd be nice to break 100. haha

I'm not trying to be rude, but people with your mindset are the whole reason they put governors on cars these days. Just because other people in your family have fast cars, or you think you know what you are doing, doesn't mean you actually SHOULD go flying around at 100+mph. From your Myspace, it looks like you're a smart kid with a bright future and a beautiful girl, is it really worth risking your life for a cheap thrill? Or worse, is it worth risking her life?

I did about 110 in my truck ONE time. and it was freaky, I was not comfortable driving my truck that fast at all. Now my car, i've had it up there ONE time (right after I bought it) and it was pretty smooth, didnt really have me on the edge of my seat like i was when driving my ranger that fast.

My Ranger is governed at 100, and it will cruise there all day long, and actually feels more stable that my wife's Hyundai, which I have had past 130. I'm not saying that speed is safe, and I'm also not saying speed is bad. What I am saying is, Know thyself and don't endanger other with your lack of knowledge. I still race, I still drive fast, but I don't do it in traffic anymore. I want the govenor off for those long stretches of empty highway between Dallas and Houston in the middle of the night. Sure does make the trip shorter.

the only way ur gonna get that gov. off is a tuner.... the dealer would never take it off or or that would be a question that they wold ask u when buyen the truck.... just get a tuner..the sct is good. i got it for the truck and for the mustang i drive it make a hell of a difference and when ur puttn power into the truck if that gov.aint off then why put any more power at all..TUNER is what your gonna need

Those of us that have been around for a while have bad high speed stories to tell and I bet in nearly every case more than the speed of the vehicle is involved.
Why would you have to go 92+ mph to pass someone going 65-75? I'm not sure my Mazda could even go 92 and although I rarely need to drive faster than 60-65 (our speed limit is 65 btw), if I did need to pass someone going 65, I doubt I would need to go faster than 10 mph more than what they're doing. If 92 isn't fast enough to pass someone, you have to wonder why you're trying to pass them in the first place IMO.

I can hit my governor in third gear. I still have two more gears to go! I find myself hitting it when I'm trying to pass a car I'm pissed at. I'm not looking at the dash then pow.

eh i actually do have a bit of a speed freak in me but not much i mean in my truck i drive at between 75-90 on the interstate (70 in florida) and well its only 90 if im not really paying attetion or passing someone i keep my thrills off road and on track

i had a 84 5.0 gt350 stang ( thats right 25year ana ) and well with alot of work to the motor i was cranking 712hp/840t and well tho i did drive it around on the street never did i ever street race with it only on the track did i race with it

but bumping your gov is an ok idea but ya need a tune its that simple i under stand why ya wanna do it ( passing and such) ya need a tune but keep your speed racer on the track or in the mud

I might be getting a G8 this year. If I do then I'm setting the limiter to about 100 so I don't get a huge ticket. I think the cars have a speed warning stock. I know the GTO does.

Oh. I was just wandering. I figured that with over 10,000 posts, he was a pretty well known and cool guy. Guess not? lol

Yeah, I've hit the governor quite a bit times just passing on the interstate. Here in Idaho our speed limit on the interstate is 75 and most people are going 80-85 as it is! That chip looks like a good buy.
