Help with A/C going through defrost
 

Sorry, 2000 Ranger 3.0

I recently rebuilt my motor, had everything put together and my A/C is only blowing through the defrost. I did a vacuum pressure to try to see if there is a leak but the line did not leak unless I was checking the wrong ones. But has anyone else run into this and known what the issue was?

I will assume 1995 or later
In 1995 Ford changed Rangers over to Vacuum controlled vents in the cab
No vacuum at any vent "motor" = Defrost only

The vacuum comes from the intake of course but from a Vacuum Reservoir, a "black ball" located in engine bay, passenger side, in front of the front tire, so down low behind the fender at the front
There is a Black plastic vacuum line that runs from the reservoir along the top of the frame rail to the firewall, it usually melts or breaks near the exhaust
It runs thru the firewall and comes out under/behind the glove box at the edge by the kick panel, there will be two vacuum lines there, a black one and a white one, white one is for heater by-pass valve in engine bay, grey line in engine bay
The black one is the vacuum source, the one with no vacuum if you have Defrost only

Other black line on the reservoir runs to the intake and should have a check valve, a disc looking thing on it, nearer the engine end of the line
