hesitation/ at idle and driving
 

hey new subscriber,
i hope everyone doing great, i have a 2007 ford ranger xlt ext. 3.0 116k. bought in november 2022 after about 100 miles of driving it i felt a slight hesitation or misfire at idling then briefly even while driving at any speed. upon start up it is unnoticed until idle levels out. i was assuming it needed tune up since the history showed nothing of previous work except normal tire change and oil services. the work i started to do to refresh i felt needed so i replaced all new motorcraft plugs wires, the plugs i pulled out was high pink lightly ash colored. i cleaned trottle body new icv, new mass air flow sensor new pcv valve along with 2 new upper motorcraft o2 sensors. the gas milage i feel could be better. it is still doing as before even one can feel the miss in the seat when in park. before i keep going on replacing parts anyone provide some ideas on what maybe causing my problem? thanks for your support.

First thing I would do is a compression test to take compression issue off the table or find it is an issue
Cold engine
Remove all 6 spark plugs
Test each cylinder and write down results

Expected is 160psi on a 2007 3.0l, but its more about the relation of all the cylinders average to lower or higher cylinders
If 4 cylinders are 140psi and 2 are under 120psi then burnt valves on those 2 cylinders is most likely cause of the misfires

But if all are within 10% of each other then you can move on to a spark or fuel issue, which are both harder to track down, compression is good or bad, lol

hey sorry for the delay in returning message. i had the compression test done normal range even fuel pressure test 68 psi. no vacuum leaks either. i thought that would have shown something. my next thought was egr valve or like you mentioned next step test other fuel/ air related areas. i dont drive it everyday either run 87-89. i have used gas treatment twice already last few months. the hesitation is more noticeable in idling than driving but when i turn a/c on then you can feel the skip going down the road like semi under load. ive been looking at other posts just alot of information out there to figure the cause. this is a solid truck and get alot of compliments. it just turned 118k thank you for your input and thoughts

Fuel pressure is high but not excessive
60psi is average, spec is 55-65psi

"Compression is normal", did they give you numbers?

I would get a Bluetooth OBD2 reader, ELM327 is under $15
It is used with your smartphone, APPs are free, or $5
You can then watch all the sensor data LIVE to see what computer sees and maybe pinpoint why there is a hesitation

yeah no codes or lights. i couldnt see the live data. maybe i can try something else soon. thanks man
