High beam relay?

Anyone know if the high beam has it's own relay?
I installed a plow,and came out later and when I hit the high beam lever, I have no lights at all.
Low beam works.

I was also told that the headlights should go off while the plow lights are on.
My truck lights and plow lights are on when I turn on the lights

The 99 Ranger factory lighting circuits do not have relays for the low beams or high beams. Since both sets are on, your problem may be too much current draw. Check fuse #33 in the dash box to see if it is blown. Then check the plow manufacturers website for wiring recommendations.

I took your advice NO. 33 was blown!

I replaced the 15 amp fuse,and was tempted to step it up to 20 amp,but resisted doing it.
It is likely drawing too much current,because the plow lights and headlights are on while I have the light switch on.

I put new plow lights on a used minute mount snow plow,and it was tricky even with the Fisher wire schematics on line.

I am afraid to go into this again because the whole harness assembly wire colors had to be connected differently to the colors of the plow light assembly.

Not sure about the minute mounts but the older Fisher plow control has a toggle switch below the wobble stick to switch between truck and plow head lights.
The signal lights on the plow frame connect directly to the signal lights on the truck.

I used plastic wire clips to hook up wires to run my plow lights
I tried to find an schematic on the Fisher schematics page.
I did not find one that matched,and so I took the hard road and traced all the connections to make the system work.
I was very surprised to see how small the wires to the head lights are.
They seem to be 18 or maybe 20 gauge.

I can not remember where the link is for many of the plow lights and controls to relays. However I have the whole PDF that have good details for many systems, but I do not know how to add a file like this to the forum. I will try again when I find out the link.

Thanks for telling me about the switch. I tried it, but because I hooked the system up direct, it only turns the electric system on or off while not using the plow.
I wonder why I do not get e mail notice of posts? I signed up for them to be sent instantly. I also clicked on remember me for my password, but I have to sigh in every time.

What it amounts to is trace the power lead for the low beam to the plug on the headlight .
Cut that wire ~6 inches from the plug.
On the harness end of the cut wire ,splice a wire to run to the center of a DPDT switch.
Run a wire from each of the outer pins of the switch back to the area of the headlight plug.
Connect one of these 2 wires to the cut wire on the headlight plug.
Connect the other wire to the lead for the plow light low beam.
Now you can do the same for the high beam.

I am confused about where the center would be on a DPDT switch. Is this a 6 pin switch?
Are you suggesting to use this DPDT switch to isolate the auto lights from the plow lights?
If would this be mounted inside the cab for convenience?
Right now I use my Ranger headlight switch to turn on both headlights and plow lights.

Yes ,You are switching the power between the auto and plow lights.
But you need to run the leads into the cab where you want to mount the switch.

You have a power lead coming from the headlight switch on the dash to the headlight.You have to switch that power lead between the auto and plow lights.

OK I understand.
That make good sense.
I will look into this as soon as I can.

Oh yea, I just remembered how hard it was to get to the plug area of the headlights.
I happen to be replacing the front drivers fender,and the bulbs etc. This was somewhat easier to work on the lighting wires, but no fun as you may know.
