High idle

Hey when i am in neutral i am getting about 1200 rpm idle and i heard that is high. Does anyone know what the idle is soposed to be? It is a 5 speed manual.

My truck will idle around 1200-1400 if I am out of gear and still moving, but when I stop it goes back to around 750-800. Is yours doing that or just staying over 1200?

Mine will idle at 1200-1400 all the time. When i am moving and in neutral it will drop to 1200 ish and when i am stopped it stays at 1200. I was thinking that maybe my gauge could be messed up because i messed around with my gauges a couple of months ago but i noticed before i messed with them that it was idleing just like it is now. i dont think it is hurting anything but why burn more gas than what is needed?
