Hood bug guard

I took off the bug shield because I am going to repaint the hood, cab and rails above the door handle line. Thy can match paint and mix “spray cans”. I will use that, then clear coat. Got to thinking do those plastic bug deflectors do anything positive? I may just leave it off? Comments appreciated.

looks like it did a good job of protecting the front edge, just look at the rest of your hood.

Well yes, but the Wyoming sun takes its toll. Is there any aerodynamic benefit?

Only if it were chrome plated. Chrome is smoother and cuts the air better. Everyone know that more chrome, the faster you go.

Haw haw Grumman. No it is plastic and I am surprised still in one piece. Think I will leave it off, unless there is some compelling reason beyond it protects a strip of paint.
