Washing the Engine Compartment

Hi Yall,

It's been a long while since I posted here...moderator duty at GE has taken my forum time...that and Ranger-Forums was blocked at work (curses). Anyways, I was working on the 3.0 and realized that my engine compartment is rather dirty. Can anyone provide a "idiots guide to cleaning their engine compartment" how-to or info/tips, etc?

just pressure wash it!!!! i use a 3800psi washer on mine!!!!!! then towel dry it and run it till its fully dry. just be sure not to directly hit any "bad" spots like thin wires or distributor if you have one.

same question cause of all the mud and dirty water that gets splashed up in mine, I usually end up spending a few hours in there with rags and all purpose cleaner, very tedious

Take a look at the "Cleaning" section in the owners manual. It shows the areas that are sensitive to washing for each of the Ranger engines.
