how accurate ?
how accurate are the gas gauges in our trucks ?
today I took a trip down to Hollywood FL, and when I left Sebring area, I had 1/2 a tank. I made it to my destination with pretty much exactly a 1/4 tank. I filled up the tank just as I was leaving, and the exact same trip home used more than 1/3 (between 1/3 and 1/2) of a tank ? |
My full to half falls faster than half to empty--???It is wierd.
|
Mine is the other way around. Full to half much slower than half to empty.

I think it just depends a lot on how much you actually fill it up.. I run mine to the top of the filler tube.. You may just stop filling after the pump stops the first click? Either way I get s@#% for gas mileage so... Ha. |
I run mine as the book says, three click-offs, and mine goes oh so slow from full to half, most notable full to 3/4 then sucks the second half
|
I thought mine was the same as most, full to 1/2 being the longest then dropping like a rock after.
and no, I dont stop at the click, while I dont top it off at the top of the filler tube, I do go close since I go until I have an even dollar amount and it wont really take much more. |
I feel mine is pretty accurate, obviously hills will throw it off.
But it does seem half to empty is a bit faster |
seems like the second half to E always lasts longer on both rangers and my integra, but i only fill with a 1/4 tank anyways now. keeps the truck lighter for better mpg and handling, stops stressing the suspension as much for ranger lean and if some one trys to siphon me, boohoo, im out 10 bucks at the most
