Do fuel injector cleaner once every 2 weeks and spark plugs and wires were changed about 15K miles ago. Guess I will check them to see how they are doing.

put some cleaner in. maybe your o2 sensor is bad. (i'm not sure when it was last changed, just throwing out ideas)

as for my milage per tank, it's in km's and i get normally around 450. full to empty (fill it when light comes on). the last tank i got 525-550. i went on a road trip and killed the last 2/3rds in the city.

sorry, i just realized that i was in the 3.0 forum and not the 4.0 forum.

for obstructions such as mouse nests, mud etc. If the engine cant breathe it will bog and shut off. Unlikely but worth checking.

Using an average of 16 gallons, I can get around 350 miles. Griggs noted the important part...it's MPG that matters, not miles per tank. Bottom line is 20 - 25 MPG is what I get on the highway with my rig, usually in the higher than the lower end.

I filled up Thursday 12.401 gallons. I drove 297 miles. I got 23.949 MPG. That means something. Miles per tank means nothing. I love under drive pulleys and tuners.

MPG will tell you if something is wrong. If say you were getting 15mpg avg and in the last few tanks it dropped to say 12 for no reason. By keeping up with your MPG that WILL tell you if something is wrong. It will atleast give you an idea that you need to fix something.

This is my first mileage check since we just got the truck. It is a 2000, presently reading 229 miles on the tripmeter and still a 1/3 of a tank to go. I would say a tune up, air and fuel filter mi.ght be in order. It looks like you have larger than stock tires. That might throw your mileage check off a little. But not what your showing.

I average around 405 miles per tank. Low fuel light comes on around 380 miles on the trip odometer. Ive gotten it to around 430 miles on a single tank, but that was pushing it. I fill up until it clicks off. Then i know its wrong but i dont care, i top it off. I can get an extra 2.3 gallons in the tank after it clicks. Yes, ill see fuel in the filler neck by the time i stop filling, but i like the cruising range, and i KNOW that the tank is full each time i do my MPG checks.

MPG is the way to figure it though. 410 miles is usual for me, and around that range its about 18.5 gallons to fill up. do the math and its 22.16mpg out of a tank average. yes, its repeatable and i sway about .5mpg either way.

80% freeway driving, speeds between 70-80mph are the norm with low traffic. 3.0L 2004, 5speed.

I run mine down to a 1/4 of a tank, which normally runs about 280 or so miles.
If i run it all the way to empty its about 340 or so miles. (i know i just did it at the last fill up)

But i keep track of my MPG every fill up, and i see about 22-24 MPG during the spring/summer months, and 19-22 MPG during winter.

You should check the fuel lines all the way from the tank to the fuel rail with the truck running.Any pinhole leaks might not be found with it shut off if the system is not retaining pressure.

I'm only getting ~220. I have 35's and 4.88's though, mixed driving hwy and towing. I get consitently 14.5-15.5mpg (depends on towing)

I saw 17mpg with the efan and when I was on 33's and 4.10's...but I've never even come close to breaking 20 even with mods and no lift.

before you put fuel injector cleaner through make sure you take off your cats because that can damage the cats
