I was getting like 200-225 per tank then it dropped to like 180 or so. I ran the codes and it threw a code for the EGR system pressure low or something like that BTW I am running a 99 with about 75,000 miles on the new motor, 33s and 4.10s

I'm between 1/4 and 1/2 tank, and the odometer says 140ish.. BUT, i ahve 35's, so i dont know how to figure out the true mileage.. i think its off... Does anyone know how to figure it out.. ? also, my spedo is correct, so will my odometer still be off?

Speedometer and odometer are tied together. They will both be off by the same amount percentage wise.
You can easily find out how far off you are by checking your odometer against the mile markers on the hi-way.
If you odometer says you've traveled 10 miles and the markers say 12, you're off by 20%, etc, etc.
The further you go, the more accurate you'll be. If you're running 35" tires, my guess is your off by 20-25% slow.

Well let's see. You've lost over 100 miles per tank.
1. Have you recalibrated for the bigger tires? If you're speedometer is off by 25% and you drive 280 miles, your odometer will read 210.

2. Keep off the gas.

Well i havnt recalibrted yet i sent our local ford dealer an email and they said that they couldnt do it. i was like wtf? but i only went from 235/75/15 to 31x10.50 so it wasnt that big of an increase.

but i think i also have a problem because it is like back fireing/missing it feels like a kicking action while pushing the accelerator at lower RPM's like below 3000.

You're right. 235/75 to 31 would only be about 7-8% diff. The missing and bucking sounds like some sort of electrical prob. Maybe plugs or wiring. Something to think about

Drove to Pearland the other day. Total drive was 370 miles round trip. Filled up here, and when I got back home, I was just a little over the E. Last time I got 25.4 mpg, and this was right there as well.

I've got a 22gal tank that I never let drop below 4gal left in the bottom. When I'm driving around Tampa, usually 300-340. When I'm driving around my home town (back roads and minimal traffic) I get 340-380.

If I draft on the highway at ~70mph I get around 450 FTW!

1.fill your tank ALL THE WAY.
2.reset trip odometer
3.drive
4.when you need gas refill ALL THE WAY.
5.divide the miles that are on your trip odometer by the number of gallons you put in (on the gas pump)

If you have bigger tires than stock your mpg will be off a lot. with each rotation of a bigger tire you will be going further than your truck is registering (more distance to go around the tire) you will be going further than what your odometer is saying and your mpg or mpt will be higher than what you calculate. from your picture your tires are a lot bigger, so your mpg will be higher than you calculate.

with stock tires my 3.0 was getting around 22mpg

so guys with no codes readily available by trucks cel, if you are getting terrible gas mileage and have fresh plugs and wires and a clean air filter and a seemingly good running truck is there anything solid to look for.???????

today I drove down and got a bumper. a week ago I drove to eastern NC (which included some city) and back and had that left me with just less than a 1/4 tank. I didn't want to get gas in Lynchburg cuz I know I could get it cheaper in Tightsqueeze (just east of Chatham, VA). I should have put in 5 bucks in the burg but I made it but not by much. I had 317 on the odo and the check guage came on at 315. The gas was like 17 cents cheaper! I put in just over 16 gallons there too. I then made this trip and back with 1-2 stops each way and a missed turn on the way back in greensboro:

US-29 S to Bessemer City Rd - Google Maps

I made it to Gastonia and back to a gas station less than a 1/4 mile up the road from the first one which came out to 352 miles to the tank and I still had probably 20-25 miles left tops in the tank before the light. I forget how much I put in the second time. But it was ALL highway and I cruised anywhere from 60-72 (usually 5 over). You waste a lot of gas cruising at 80, etc. It all depends on the car for what the prime speed is for best mpg.
