Hey i know that their are older ford Tauruses out their with 24 valve v6 3.0 engines making about 200 horse power at the flywheel and i was wondering if anyone has done a swap with Taurus's heads with the stock 3.0 ranger's 12v heads cause as many of u know the ranger only makes about 150 horse power at the flywheel. And if so what other mods would i have to do to tweak the engine to the tauruses 200 hp mark?

 

I believe the 24 valve Taurus engine uses overhead cams but I'm not sure. The 3.0 in the ranger is a pushrod motor. You could do it if you have a money tree in your backyard. But you might as well just swap in a 4.0 if you want to stay V6 or a 5.0 if you want V8 power.

 

The Taurus 3.0L 24v DOHC V6 is the "Duratec 30" which is a totally different engine than the Ranger's 3.0L 12v OHV "Vulcan" V6. Also, the 3.0L 24v V6 used in the Gen 1-2 Taurus SHO is totally different as well, it was built by Yamaha.

I have the 24v Duratec and they're 2 different engines. Do an 98+ Explorer V8 swap, they have Mustang heads. :)
